Teleph0ne privacy policy

The short version

Teleph0ne has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your calls, call history and contacts stay on your phone. We never sell or share data.

What stays on your phone

• Contacts are read to show caller names and photos, for search and smart dial, and to let starred contacts always ring. They are never uploaded.
• Call history is read to show your recent calls. It is never uploaded, except to your own Google Drive if you turn on backups (below).
• Phone state and calling permissions let Teleph0ne work as your phone app: placing, answering and screening calls. Incoming numbers are checked against a spam list stored on your phone; they are not sent anywhere to be checked.
• Blocked numbers are kept in Android's own block list on your phone.

What leaves your phone, and only when

• Spam list download. Twice a day Teleph0ne downloads the public spam list from GitHub (github.com/rafgomindo/teleph0ne-spam-list) or from this site. This request contains nothing about you or your calls.
• “Report as spam” (optional). When you block a number and leave “Report call as spam” ticked, Teleph0ne sends only that number, a reason (for example “spam”) and a random ID created when the app was installed, which says nothing about you. Your own number, contacts and call history are never sent. To limit abuse, the service stores that ID and your connection's IP address only as salted one-way hashes; neither is stored as is. A number is published on the public list (on this site and on GitHub) after several different phones report it.
• Call history backup (optional, off by default). If you sign in with Google, your recent call history is saved to the hidden app-data folder of your own Google Drive. Only Teleph0ne can read it; we have no access to it. Signing out stops backups.
• Purchases (optional). Donations and the yearly subscription are handled entirely by Google Play. We receive no payment details.
• Search and Message buttons open your browser or messaging app only when you tap them.

Your choices

You can deny the contacts or call history permissions, turn off reporting per number, sign out of backups, or delete the backup from your Google Drive at any time. Uninstalling Teleph0ne removes all its data from your phone. To have a reported number reviewed, email the developer address on the Google Play listing.

Children

Teleph0ne is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
